It may look like Syria, Iraq or Gaza, but in fact the video below was filmed in Area C, where Israel is supposed to maintain full civil and security control, and it happened with the knowledge of the IDF’s Civil Administration, according to the Regavim organization.
Armed Palestinian Authority police began opening fire in the air from right in the middle of a crowd of people, apparently unconcerned with the concept that what goes up, must also come down.
Palestinian Authority police and a PA construction crew arrived near the Rimonim junction and the the Makuh River in Area C, which is close to the Jewish community of Rimonim and the Arab village of Ramun, and began trying to a build a garbage landfill, that is being paid for by the German government and the KfW Development Bank.
Local Jewish and Arab residents from the area, as well as Green groups came out to protest and stop the construction, which they described as a dangerous, polluting facility.
A petition by Green Now, an Israeli environmentalist organization, with the Israeli Supreme Court, managed to freeze the construction until August 21, but that didn’t interest the Palestinian Authority and the Europeans that are constantly looking for ways to expand into Area C, despite the Oslo Accords forbidding it.
In the end, the construction stopped, but this precedent is yet another dangerous sign that the Civil Administration is allowing the PA to expand their operations and anarchy into Area C.
