An Iranian scholar argues that the entire Tom and Jerry cartoon enterprise was erected by the Jews in order to remove the shame of Europe, where they were called “dirty mice.”
On the way he confuses Walt Disney (who was no big fan of Jews) with Hanna Barbera, the creators of Tom and Jerry. He also pulls many other facts out of who knows where, including the thing about the Jews hoarding the wealth of Europe in the 19th century (the Jews were, perhaps, the poorest ethnic group in Europe, which is why they stormed the gates of America).
But where did he get the “dirty mouse” slur? Could it be Art Spiegelman’s Maus: A Survivor’s Tale? It’s difficult to tell with Iranian intellectuals…
