Melvyn Millman was born in the USA in 1934. He moved to Israel with his Sabra wife, Chanita, in 1970, and had been living in Jerusalem since 1972. Melvyn started writing poetry at 14. In 1989 he joined the Jerusalem Voices poetry group and participated in its monthly readings. Some of his poems were published in most of the last 15 Voices Annual Anthologies of poetry. Others were published in a South African Jewish newspaper and also in the Jerusalem Post. Besides being a highly respected teacher in a local high school, he was also a gifted amateur actor who co-wrote and co-starred in a full-length play. Following his untimely death, his family produced a delightful volume of his collected poems.
