“There are 5-6 prominent trends in the cyber dimension as of now. 8 months from now, however, at the end of 2014, some of these might change. The distinctions between rivals and enemies is obscure. If there is a potential rival and he becomes an enemy, he can’t go back to being just a rival.”
“Sometimes we identify parts of a software in a specific place and then a few months later we identify the same software on a different continent. There are connections and interconnections that are much easier in the cyber dimension. Cyber attackers always advance faster than the defenders.”
The future of cyber defense
“We need to cooperate between commercial intelligence companies, information assurance institutions, the private sector and the defense sector. We also need to cooperate in legislation even though this challenges some of the basic of concepts which lie at the heart of democracy.”
