There’s something hypocritical about Leftists attacking Prime Minister Netanyahu for not having the government bail out the commercially unviable Israel Channel 10 station.
Many of those same people attacking Netanyahu were involved in promoting the “Yisrael Hayom law”, a law which was designed to hurt if not completely shut down a private newspaper they viewed as rightwing or pro-Netanyahu.
Channel 2’s Keshet and Reshet market shares are 26.2% and 18.2% respectively during prime time (they rotate days on the station).
Channel 10 has a prime time viewer rating of only 7.7%.
I don’t know why Channel 10 can’t turn a profit and pull in viewers, but since it’s known for its leftwing views, and the numbers clearly indicate not enough viewers are interested in watching it, which perhaps makes it uninteresting for the advertisers — sorry, lost my train of thought there.
Well, maybe instead of our government bailing it out, the Channel 10 franchise and assets should be sold off.
Maybe its new owners would consider different programming.
The Left are demanding that Israeli tax dollar bail out this not so popular commercial TV station, saying its closure is a danger to democracy — but can they tell me what will Channel 10 do differently once they have our money?
