Who’s Behind The Protests?

Although many media outlets have covered the anti-police protests in New York, few have reported on the professional radical leftist agitators behind them.

From media reports, one generally gets the impression that the demonstrations are spontaneous reactions to the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, whom, according to the protesters, were killed by racist police officers.

That impression is false. Act Now To End The War & Stop racism Coalition (ANSWER), together with Occupy Wall Street and at least 10 other so-called economic justice and pro-Palestinian groups, are behind the protests.

Many articles mention ANSWER but fail to provide ANSWER’s radical background and history, or mention other groups supporting the protest movement.

Founded in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, ANSWER is an umbrella group famous for its protests against Israel and America’s wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is known to be one of the most extreme groups in the progressive community in its positions on Israel and U.S. military action.

In 2002, during the height of the second Palestinian Intifada, ANSWER organized a demonstration in Washington, D.C., which the group claims was the largest pro-Palestinian rally in U.S. history.

In August, ANSWER led another Washington, D.C., rally against what the group described as “the Israeli massacre against people in Gaza.”

ANSWER has openly expressed support for the Palestinian terrorism. Discover The Networks notes the group released a statement expressing its “solidarity with the call issued [to hold]… activities timed to coincide with the third anniversary of the second Palestinian Intifada.”

ANSWER has also supported so-called resistance against U.S. troops in Iraq, and some of ANSWER’s leaders are associated with the Stalinist Workers World Party.

Meanwhile, almost entirely unreported by the news media is that Occupy is a co-sponsor of the anti-police protests targeting Fifth Avenue and may be hijacking the demonstrations for its own goals.

Radicals Say Assassination Of Police Officers ‘Comes As No Surprise’

An “economic justice” organization apparently justified the cold-blooded murder of two New York City on December 20 in an article in a U.S. communist newspaper.

In a statement cross-posted at Worker’s World, the publication of the Workers World Party, the New York City Peoples Power Assembly Movement complained that the alleged revenge-assassination of two police officers will be used by the government and police “to justify ratcheting up repression against the masses.”

The group went on to seemingly justify the actions of reported cop-killer Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley, who first posted on social media his intention to avenge the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown, both of whom were killed by police officers.

The group stated: “That said, we also know that anger over police repression and murder is so deep that it should come as no surprise to anyone that somebody would, sooner or later, act on that burning rage. Especially when the so-called justice system demonstrates time after time after time that police can, and do, murder with impunity.”

Russia Won’t Let West Act With Impunity

Russia is preparing a contingency plan to prompt Hizbullah and possibly the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad into a direct military conflict with Israel, according to a French official who has been apprised of the situation.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Russia aims to use this plan as a threat against the West, particularly the U.S. and European Union, which has been trying to isolate Moscow.

This past week, the U.S. and EU adapted tighter sanctions on the Russian economy, including restrictions on investments in the Crimea, with emphasis on Russian Black Sea oil and gas exploration and tourism.
