Then there’s the continuing PA lionization of deceased terrorists with laudatory public events, including the naming of public buildings and roads after them, along with granting stipends to their families.

There can be no denying that Mahmoud Abbas and the PA are integral to the current terror outbreak. In our view, a carefully designed program of limited military action against the PA would be logical though we realize it’s probably not in the cards. Yet there are other approaches to consider. Any stipends awarded to the families of terrorists should trigger a special punitive tax. And a punitive sum should be withheld from the tax revenues collected by Israel on behalf of the Palestinians. Calibrated, though serious, restrictions on the PA’s freedom of action as a governing body should also be considered.

In the final analysis, it is the Israeli government that will have to come up with a plan. It cannot be that the Palestinians will be allowed to think they have figured out how to neutralize Israel’s capacity for deterrence.
