NYS SENATE
Senator Kevin Parker (SD 21)
Over the years Senator Parker has made a special effort to keep in regular touch on issues affecting the Jewish community. He has been a leader in the fight against bias-related graffiti and has spoken out on the plight of the Jewish poor.
Senator Martin J. Golden (SD 22)
Senator Golden has paid serious attention to the needs of his Jewish constituents and been a highly accessible and important “go to person” both in the State Senate, where he has served since 2002, and before that as a member of the New York City Council. He has visited The Jewish Press on many occasions and always speaks with passion of his plans for meeting our community’s needs – and he has indeed been attentive issues affecting the Jewish community. We are proud to have regularly endorsed Mr. Golden over the years. We also note that he is somewhat of a rarity these days as a steadfast defender of family values.
CONGRESS
Congressman Peter King (2nd CD)
Congressman King has become the symbol of national security and international affairs concerns. He minces no words in keeping the Obama administration’s feet to the fire, calling it to task for the fiascos involving Iraq, Benghazi, Iran and ISIS and the failure to secure the country in the face of growing Muslim fundamentalist extremism. And he is one of the Israel’s foremost champions in Congress.
Bruce Blakeman (4th CD)
Mr. Blakeman has important legislative experience in the Nassau County legislature, having served there in several leadership positions. His opponent offers no such experience. In addition, while Mr. Blakeman has framed his campaign on national issues relating to the economy, job creation, national security, and foreign affairs, his opponent has mostly stressed issues that are essentially local in nature.
Congresswoman Grace Meng (6th CD)
Ms. Meng deserves the support of Jewish voters. She is a vocal proponent of a strong Israel and is a reliable friend in Washington.
Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (8th CD)
Mr. Jeffries continues to display a deep interest in foreign affairs and a keen understanding of Israel’s need for an undivided Jerusalem as its capital and why a return to the ’67 lines is not an option. He is a valuable asset in Congress.
Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (9th CD)
Ms. Clarke has become a stalwart voice for accommodating Israel’s needs in Congress.
Congressman Jerrold Nadler (10th CD)
Mr. Nadler has always been there for Israel and the special needs of the Jewish community and is an important congressional presence.
Domenic Recchia (11th CD)
Mr. Recchia would bring important credentials and experience to Congress. He was chairman of the Finance Committee while serving on the New York City Council and is an experienced hand in the nitty-gritty of government finance and program budgeting. In addition, he was a champion of aid to special education in parochial schools while serving on a local Brooklyn district school board. And he is a stalwart supporter of Israel.
