Prime Minister Netanyahu’s selection of Dore Gold as the new director general of the Foreign Ministry is a bold and, we think, eminently wise one. Ambassador Gold is a widely respected scholar of international affairs and a prolific author and commentator. He is at once eloquent and firmly rooted in Israeli and world history.
What especially appeals to us is his grand – some critics would say extravagant –view of what the borders of Israel should look like. But he never fails to impress, whenever called upon, with his well-grounded advocacy on behalf of the Jewish state. He will be a decided asset as Israel addresses the threats from its Arab and Iranian adversaries.
