Is all of this part of some understanding with the White House? Or is it all happenstance? We should keep in mind that Sen. Schumer is in line to succeed the retiring Senator Harry Reid as leader of the Senate Democrats and it is in his interest to cultivate President Obama’s goodwill.
In any event, a vote by Sen. Schumer to reject the Iran deal after weeks of silence would be too little, too late. And he shouldn’t think that those of us who are concerned about the Iran agreement will overlook his failure to do what he could have done to defeat the agreement if he ends up on record as opposing it. Unless he opens his mouth – and soon – history will judge him as having been derelict in his duty, even if he votes against the deal.
