We were disappointed with President Trump’s reconsideration of his decision to declassify Department of Justice and FBI documents regarding their investigations of the 2016 presidential campaign. We know he is now trying to deal with concerns he has recently learned about. But it is hard to believe that there is anyone left who thinks less information, not more, is called for order to get to the bottom of what is palpably a cesspool of wrongdoing.
We already know about the incredible pass given to Hillary Clinton over her illegal use of a private e-mail server; the illegal Comey leaks and usurpation of authority; the notorious McCabe, Strock/Page e-mails; the FISA misrepresentations; the Steele dossier mess; the concocted “collusion” counterintelligence and criminal investigations.
And now we know that the effective head of the Department of Justice, Rod Rosenstein, has taken to discussing a coup against Mr. Trump with officials and Cabinet members.
Yes we know, Rosenstein says he wasn’t serious. But no, we can’t take a joke. How would such an idea get broached in the first place?
This is an issue for all Americans and we hope that the president will conclude real quick that more disclosure, not less, is what is needed.
