The article goes on to describe in much detail some of the trials and tribulations he and others like him are facing. In sum, Mr. Salah and his ilk are portrayed in very human terms. Of course, the article also includes this, almost in passing: “It has been two decades since [Salah] killed Israel Tenenbaum, 72, a Holocaust survivor and security guard at a beach hotel 20 miles away in Netanya, hitting him in the side of the head with a metal rod.”
We have always thought the unprecedented sentence imposed on Jonathan Pollard for spying for a U.S. ally was in large measure a function of his having spied for Israel. Mr. Pollard’s release is long past due, but so is an end to the Obama administration’s practice of pressuring Israel to free murderous terrorists.
