When you look at the voter turnout in the general community, you’re talking about 25-35 percent. If the Jewish community comes out to vote in the numbers it has, we can really make a difference. Every politician who’s worth his salt knows who votes. Those are his customers. And those are the people they try to help. If they see us voting, they’ll help us more.
You used to work for Agudath Israel. What made you leave that organization in 2011 and come to the Orthodox Union?
The Agudah is a great organization. It’s just that in New Jersey the population where the Agudah is strong is relegated to two or three communities whereas the Orthodox Union is a far larger group all across the state. So I’m able to work for many more communities and day schools under the aegis of the OU than I was able to under the aegis of the Agudah.
