Instead of finding reasons to denounce Israel, why don’t the UN and leaders of the BDS movement encourage other countries to follow Israel’s example?

Has anybody else noticed that the yahrzeit lamps we have been buying the past few years do not burn as long as they are supposed to?

Are those who make these lamps skimping on the amount of wax they put into the glass? If so, they are committing a terrible aveirah.

It is very disconcerting, to say the least, when a lamp lit for a departed loved one goes out on Shabbos, three hours before it was supposed to, and of course you cannot light another one in its place.

I have taken to using a 48-hour lamp for a one-day yahrzeit and a 72-hour lamp for a two-day Yom Tov. The next time we have a Shabbos consecutive with a two-day Yom Tov, I will probably have to use a seven-day candle.

It is about time our rabbanim and community leaders speak out about this problem.
