In the summer of 2011 I was at Fort Benning preparing to deploy to Afghanistan. The deployment site was set up for small units and individual troop rotations into the Iraq and Afghanistan theatres of operations. Chow time was interesting as one never knew what the conversation would entail or whom you would meet. Breakfast could be with young privates from Iowa on their first tour or a Coast Guard JAG officer on his way to Baghdad to work on contract law. One particular lunch that stood out is when I met Tonya. Partly due to her unaccented English and assertive demeanor I surmised that she was an intelligence analyst either for the FBI, NSA or a private sector contractor.
I learned that Tonya, the girl with the KGB agent name is actually Iranian. Tonya declared, (as if I personally had the authority to do so) “If you invade my country, you will be welcomed.” Tonya’s parents were in college at the time the shah was ousted in favor of the brutal medieval Islamic dictator, the Ayatollah Khomeini. Tonya’s mother supported the shah while dad was in favor of Khomeini.The Ayatollah offered a life a leisure and work would be an option to those who were still inclined to do so. The caveat was no freedom and some minor inconveniences such as clothing restrictions, amputations, stoning, etc. Her parents’ relationship was strained and mom frequently said, “I told you so.”
Tonya was a graduate of Tehran Un. Without specifying the date she explained that a meeting was held on the top floor of one of the university buildings and the students with the highest GPAs were gathered for a meeting then thrown out the window. Twice Tonya was arrested and fined as her hair was visible under her hijab. This brings up another point. All Muslim women are not in favor of the hijab.
Several times she went to the U.S. embassy to inquire about the lottery for an exit visa. Each time she hesitated and never signed up as she knew her father would not allow her to leave the country.
The Iranian authorities issued a stern warning, should she be arrested again her bachelors’ degree would be revoked. Being intelligent, confident, and very pretty, she was a target as the Iranian government doesn’t favor having the competition speak out about freedom and stirring up Shiite. On her last desperate trip to the embassy she learned that parental permission was not needed. Unlike many of immigrants who come to America in order to languish in the welfare surpluses, she signed up to be a Dari interpreter in Afghanistan. The Iranian girl with the Russian name is an American patriot.
The first rule when in negotiations with terrorists is, “Do not negotiate with terrorists.” President Reagan hammered deals with the Soviets by walking out. Yet fleckless John Kerry, the sailor who went to Vietnam for a photo OP continues on his capitulation tour endorsed by the Euro-wimps in the coalition.
See No Evil: In addition to Iran’s resume’ of terror since1979 (see box) Iran’s aggression continues and the Iranians do not even pretend that they will change their evil ways. Recently, the Iranian Navy executed assault exercises against a full scale model of a U.S. aircraft carrier and Iran’s Quds Force is battling the Iraqi Army in Tikrit.
Iran repeatedly has vowed to destroy Israel so it is logical and well within reason to understand why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would do as did Prime Minister Winston Churchill did, address a joint session of Congress. Churchill sought American might to destroy fascism from the Axis Powers and Netanyahu’s efforts are to dissuade America from pursuing a deal with the devil by allowing for Iran to have nuclear weapons capabilities.
