The country was shocked by the slaughter of four year old Daniel Turgeman. He did not make it to the shelter in time before his body was riddled by mortar shrapnel. Fifteen seconds warning was not enough. A soldier is fighting for his life as shrapnel caught him as well.
And another three Israelis are in intensive care as they too were in the way of Hamas mortal shells today. What is particularly interesting about the last three is that they were hit at the “Erez” crossing into Gaza where tons of supplies are allowed into Gaza daily, despite the attacks. In fact these were drivers whose job was to bring the wounded and ill Gazans into Israel for medical treatment.
When interviewed after this attack, the manager of the crossing proudly said that, “the humanitarian aid has not stopped for a moment, and just today, the day of the shelling of the site, seventy Gazans were transferred to Israel for medical treatment.” Why am I not as proud? Why am I perplexed? Is something wrong me? Could it be because in the entire history of warfare this has never been done? But maybe we Jews should be fighting wars in a different way.. and I am just not on that level of understanding. and sensitivity?
Before I avoid looking at myself in the mirror for shame, I remind myself that the ones who push this unique “Jewish morality” are the same who brought Arafat and company to us, armed them and facilitated Hamas’s rule in Gaza after brutally expelling thousands of Jews from their homes. So much for morality and wisdom.
So maybe what they declare as “Jewish morality” is a totally dangerous fabrication? I was curious what authentic Jewish sources have to say about how Jews are to wage our wars. I did a study and I can tell you it is a far cry from supplying and treating our enemy during a war, or for that matter not during a war. A very far cry indeed.
We have tried every possible tack in dealing with those who do what they can kill to our people, even as we risk our lives to help them. and the world who we want so much to love us..just has disdain for us. Perhaps it is time to try the authentic Jewish way?
