Rabbi and Rebbetzin Lebovic with Rebbetzin Tova.

Rebbetzin Tova’s rare reddish/gold color indicates she is a pure-bred type and probably quite expensive on the “rabbit market.” Our friend snapped a photo of me holding the rabbit as I stood next to my wife. We printed copies, one of which my wife took to the hospital pastoral office where she works as a chaplain. It was a hit: the photo was posted on the bulletin board and whoever passes by, we are told, gets a chuckle upon seeing it.

We feel Rebbetzin Tova was sent to us by Divine Providence, giving us the opportunity to offer her shelter and protection. We take it as a reminder that we humans have to practice kindness even vis-à-vis animals, and how much more so vis-à-vis our fellow human beings, whenever the opportunity arises.
