June 20 2018 Palestinian Radio and Television Authority:
This just in: The United Nations General Assembly in a unanimous vote of 197-0 voted today to expel the State of Israelfrom the United Nations and to impose severe economic and political sanctions.
U.S. Ambassador to the UN James Carter III who wrote the resolution’s tough language is with us on the phone directly from UN headquarters in New York City to elaborate and explain the dramatics that have occurred. Mr. Ambassador please proceed.
Thank you. The American government loudly and vigorously applauds the just-concluded vote as the final step toward righting the wrong of the 1947 United Nations resolution in which Palestine was wrongfully partitioned.
“With this vote the world declares that the State of Israel was illegally established on Palestinian lands; thank heaven saner heads prevailed today as we came a giant step closer to the realizing the ultimate goal of returning all of the occupied lands to their rightful owners.
“We had no other choice; every political nicety was tried and exhausted — why Israel just rejected the revised version of the revised version of the sixth in a series of road maps going back to the administrations of former presidents George W. Bush and Hillary R. Clinton. As you know our current president has been working hard to achieve a just and final solution since he took office two and a half years ago.”
Mr. Ambassador would you please be so kind as to spell out for the listening and viewing audience the main points of the latest revised road map in order to clarify to one and all what the so-called ‘sticking points’ were. Why was Israel so obstinate in refusing to accept the president’s “expanded vision for peace – as you dubbed it.”
With pleasure. The president has declared over and over that Israel has nothing to fear but fear itself. The United States promised to guarantee Israel’s safety if it accepted the president’s revised vision. I believe that the audience will agree — as we see from the amazing vote in the UN — that justice must prevail. Had Israel accepted these concessions for peace this vote wouldn’t have been necessary.
“The latest revisions in the road map spelled out the these points toward a final peace:
1) The following cities towns and other areas currently occupied by Jewish settlers must be evacuated: Jaffa an Arab-populated suburb of Tel Aviv is to be ceded to the State of Palestine and all Jewish neighborhoods in the vicinity are to be dismantled. Acre Ashdod Ashkelon Degania Haifa HerzliaHolon Naharia Nahalal Natanya Rehovot and the Jordan Valley are to be absorbed into Palestine with all Jewish residents to be evacuated within six months. After all according to the PLO and Hamas charters these were all built on Arab land.
2) Kiryat Shemona Rosh Pina and Ma’alot are to be evacuated dismantled and turned into a demilitarized no-man’s land supervised by the multinational force. Since the majority of the population in the Galilee area are Arabs Safed and Tiberia are to be evacuated and with all Jews transferred to B’nei B’rak a city the Palestinians graciously say they have no claim.
3) Jerusalem will be turned over to the government of Palestine; continuing to live with a wall in the center of the once-united eternal city has created tremendous logistical hardships for the Arab population. This confidence-building
concession will end the restrictions imposed on individuals attempting to cross over; the blockades searches and general humiliation of the Arab populace will come to an end.
4) Three million Arab refugees wallowing in UN-sponsored refugee camps must be allowed into what for the time being we’re still calling Israel proper. The humanitarian gesture made by Israel during the implementation of the original road map — taking in one-and-a-half million refugees — has proven insufficient. Too many families long to be united with their loved ones already in Israel.
5) Israel is to immediately transfer the billions of dollars of Arab tax money it has been collecting and holding in trust for the State of Palestine. To rebuild the infrastructure that Israel destroyed during the intifada will require a tremendous infusion of money. Unfortunately the hundreds of billions of dollars contributed to the Palestinian Authority over the years by the U.S. the UN and the European Union have disappeared without a trace.
6) On the Syrian front Israel is to evacuate the entire area called the Golan Heights and return it to the government of Syria. The Syrian government has been kind enough to offer twenty-two cargo boats to ship the Jews of the Golan to any
country that will take them. Syria will forgo any compensation for this compassionate gesture.
7) Once the above points are all accepted and implemented within the six-month time frame envisioned by the president the State of Palestine will declare a hudna and all homicide bombings and other alleged acts of violence will come
to a halt.
Mr. Ambassador these points sound very fair. Why did Israel refuse to accept this latest revised road map? Didn’t Israel want peace? Since the implementation of the original road map acts of terror have been greatly reduced — there have been only seventeen bus bombings in the last three years! Just 3 800 Jews have been killed since 2003 compared to almost 1 000 in the three years immediately after the start of the intifada. Hamas Fatah Tanzim and the other freedom fighters have curtailed their violence to only the cities and areas mentioned in the above points. Meanwhile Palestinian President Dahlan demanded so little from Israel.”
That is exactly why the UN voted as it did. The worldfrankly had finally had enough of Israel’s obstinate refusal to take the necessary risks for peace — the “peace of the brave – as President Zogby likes to put it quoting the eloquent words of Chairman Arafat rest his soul. Seventy years of Jewish occupation of Palestine brought us a never-ending cycle of violence and bloodshed. A new era of peace and tranquility is about to dawn.
Thank you Mr. Ambassador. This is the Palestinian Radio and Television Authority broadcasting from Ramallah Palestine.
