As we say in Hallel, “God … raises the needy from the dust, from the trash heaps He lifts the destitute … to seat them with … the nobles of his people.”
It’s been said that we’re all so cynical as a result of western thought that we can’t believe in the reality of the coming Redemption. But listen to the words of the prophet (Ezekiel 37:11-14, haftara for Shabbos Chol Hamoed Pesach):
He said to me, “Ben adam, these bones – they are the whole family of Israel. Behold! – They say, ‘Our bones have dried and our hope is lost. We are doomed.’ Therefore, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says my Lord: Behold! – I open your graves and I raise you from your graves, O My People, and I shall bring you to the Land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am God, when I … raise you from your graves, O My People. I shall put My spirit into you and you shall live….’”
With simcha and belief in the coming Redemption, may we see it soon!
