We must view someone in Eretz Yisrael who is not observant as a tinok she’nishbah – one whose actions are due to his sorry circumstances. Most unobservant Jews were raised by parents who lacked a minimum religious education. For the most part, therefore, their lack of observance is not their fault. It is in answer to this national tragedy of inobservance that numerous kiruv yeshivot and organizations abound in Eretz Yisrael (as well as in the Diaspora).
It is not the ignorant that delay the arrival of Moshiach and we should not view them as such. Rather, we must seek their return, either through direct contact or, at a minimum, through financially supporting those engaged in this holy undertaking of kiruv (whether in Eretz Yisrael or the Diaspora). Hopefully, through this effort, we will merit the coming of Moshiach and the ensuing ingathering of all of our people to a rebuilt Holy Land, speedily in our days.
