The same is applicable to anything associated with fun. Be it a car, a new dress, jewelry or heroin. As long as fun is confused with happiness the object that provides happiness today will be lacking next year.

This is not to say that there is no place for fun, but it would be best viewed as a spice. Spices are wonderful to enliven bland food, but they cannot sustain by themselves. Living only for fun would be comparable to being nourished solely by oregano and thyme. It will kill you. Hence fun, if not viewed as a spice but as the source for happiness, will become addictive and therefore destructive.
