I recently had my yearly appointment with my dermatologist. He removed some things from my face and then left. Soon after, the nurse came in, handed me a huge white sheet and asked me to wrap it around myself. When she left, I decided to get on the examination table so I would be ready for the rest of the visit. I had no way of knowing that within minutes I would be in danger.

I needed something to stand on and noticed the stepstool under the bed. How convenient, I thought.

I stood on the stepstool and tried to get on the bed but I felt myself being pulled backward. I quickly looked down and was horrified to see some of the linen had gotten trapped beneath the legs of the stool. I then took a quick peek backwards and took in a hard floor, a desk, a couple of chairs and large pieces of medical equipment. It took mere seconds to realize that if I continued to be pulled back I would sustain major injuries. There was nothing I could do and no one around to help me.

I was terrified of the fall that seemed inevitable. Suddenly I felt my hands holding onto a handle which I had not seen before. Now holding onto the handle I was able to steady myself. The crisis was over. Days later I thought that Hashem put my hands on that handle.

As I calmed myself, I put my head on the table and thanked Hashem for saving me. I relaxed and was able to get on the table.

The next evening I heard on the radio that a celebrity had fallen back the day before my close call. He was seriously injured but was expected to recover.

I have a lot to be thankful for.
