It would be an undisputed fact that the Jewish people and the state of Israel has had no greater friend in the white house than president Donald Trump; if people would be intellectually honest. No previous president has treated the Jewish nation and the state of Israel so well, so fair, and so amicably. No president has recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capitol and moved their embassy there. No president declared the Golan Heights to rightfully belong to Israel. No previous president closed the PA office in Washington, and withheld money previously promised and sent to the terrorist group.
Similar to Pharaoh’s dream where the bad years were so bad people forgot the good years, perhaps in the past three years of blessing, some people may have forgotten already how bad it was under the previous administration. The relationship between Obama and Netanyahu was terrible. At one point when Bibi came to Washington, Obama refused to meet with him, and Bibi had to sneak out the back door.
Does anyone recall UN resolution 2334? The one where the Obama administration abstained from voting on a United Nations Security Council resolution that demanded an immediate halt to all Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, enabling the measure to pass. And not only abstained but worked on the actual resolution itself! The resolution also called on all states to distinguish between the territory of the State of Israel and the territories occupied since 1967 – language that has led to a surge in boycott and sanctions efforts against the settlements. Have we gotten used to the wonderful treatment president Trump’s UN ambassadors have afforded us in the UN?
How ironic it is then that so many people call this great president, president Trump, an anti-Semite! Why is that so? Well, firstly I do believe that the demagogues, the Democrats and those who run the corrupt media, will slander a person with something that is completely false, and it does not have to be rooted in any minute faction of truth. Therefore, it is entirely possible that although Donald Trump is the antithesis of an anti-Semite, they will accuse him exactly of that.
Secondly, it is highly appropriate to apply the adage brought in the Gemara Kedushin 70a, one who slanders another, is doing so because he has that issue. In other words, those who call the president an anti-Semite are themselves anti-Semites, therefore they accuse others of that exact flaw. And yes, even the Jewish congressmen are self-hating anti-Semites.
A friend of mine told me that a few months ago he met congressman Jerry Nadler at an event and asked him point blank, in our nation’s history we have had very few powerful leaders that have been this friendly towards our people, why are you treating him so terribly? And Mr. Nadler grumped back, “Well I disagree.” There is nothing to dispute. It is a black and white fact. In our nation’s long and dark history of galus, there have been few powerful leaders who have been as gracious and forthcoming towards our people, and president Donald Trump definitely deserves to be counted on that list.
There is another point I would mention parenthetically. Why are we honoring these despicable congressmen at dinners and other functions? They do not deserve our respect or admiration, and surely not any honor.
Jewish congressmen who oppose president Trump, especially regarding Israel, are simply putting politics before their country, the USA, and before their religion. They may have Jewish mothers and therefore are Jewish, but they do not represent Jews. Their heritage means nothing to them, and the mere fact that they are Jewish does not mean they are entitled to designate who is an anti-Semite! Jewish values are represented only by the Torah. Those who follow its ways, the orthodox Jews, by and large support president Trump. Those who represent the real Jewish values recognize that president Trump deserves our highest honor, admiration, and appreciation for all he has done for our people and for the state of Israel.
When someone slanders a true friend of the Jewish people, it is our duty and responsibility to defend that person. Silence in this scenario is a great travesty. As orthodox Jews, who represent true Jewish values our opinion must be conveyed: president Trump is no anti-Semite, and on the contrary, he is our nation’s strongest friend in modern history!
May G-d continue to bless president Donald Trump.
