Arab protesters were wearing Santa Claus costumes and waving Palestinian flags outside the West Bank village of Bilin, 7.5 miles outside Ramallah, Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.
I suppose theme rallies are in again.
Bilin is kind of a bedroom community for PLO officials working in Ramallah.
Since January 2005, the PLO has been organizing weekly protests against the construction of the Israeli security barrier, with lavish media coverage. This despite the fact that Israel has rerouted the wall in Bilin to accommodate the villagers’ appeal to the high court—or possibly because of it.
I’m sure it’s no fun living with the security wall stuck in your face. But I know for certain it beats being blown up by a suicide bomber, which Israel says the wall has been preventing.
Personally, I don’t trust the much touted effectiveness of the wall, but I trust PLO paid demonstrators even less.
