The Ilan and Asaf Ramon airport, currently under construction in Eilat.

Ilan Ramon was an Israeli astronaut and fighter pilot. He was the youngest IAF pilot to take part in the 1981 strike on the Iraqi Osirak nuclear reactor. He was killed in 2003 when his space shuttle, the Columbia exploded.

Asaf Ramon, Ilan’s son, died in 2009 when his F-16-A crashed during a training dog fight.
