Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented U.S. President Donald Trump with two pagers—one crafted from gold—during their meeting in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, according to reports.
The gifts referenced Israel’s covert operation against Hezbollah in September, during which the Mossad intelligence agency distributed hundreds of booby-trapped pagers and walkie-talkies to the Lebanese terror group through shell companies.
The operation crippled Hezbollah’s mid-level command structure and is widely regarded as a turning point in its conflict with Israel.
A member of Netanyahu’s delegation told Israel’s Channel 12 News that Trump described the operation as “tremendous” upon receiving the gift.
In return, Trump gifted Netanyahu a framed photo of the two leaders, inscribed with the message: “To Bibi, a great leader,” according to the report.
