We’ve been having a whole lot of weather this winter. The Kinneret is rising at an unbelievable rate and may reach its highest point in decades this winter. Over here, in Netanya, we’ve experienced some gales at the beachfront, coupled with lightening storms, that almost blew us off our feet. In fact, legend has it that a dog was seen during one of those gales, flying in the air, moored to the leash in its master’s hands.

Despite the rains, I will never walk the streets with an umbrella, much like the fellow in the picture. First, because it never rains on days when you take an umbrella. Second, because, sooner or later, the rain becomes so heavy, you end up being drenched regardless of your umbrella. And third, because the wind turns your umbrella inside-out, rendering it useless. So why bother?

Anyway, with all the winter weather talk, I must tell you, the rain here rarely goes beyond what would be considered an August drizzle in New York. It refreshes the air, it’s on the warm side, no threat at all.

Except for those nights when dogs go flying in the storm.
