President Shimon Peres spoke at a Synagogue in Riga, Latvia, on Tuesday, while on an official state visit to Latvia and Lithuania to discuss the recent EU boycott on Israeli products and the Holocaust.
I just thought that it was nice to see Peres this close to the 10 Commandments, half of which can bee seen in this picture. He could have used the occasion to brush up on his Thou-Shalt-Not’s, possibly review which of the commandments on the list he has kept and which still require some work.
By Jewish law, a king must write a Torah scroll and carry it with him wherever he goes:
And when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself in a book, a copy of this law, approved by the Levitical priests. And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them. (Deuteronomy 17:18-19)
But I would be happy if Shimon Peres just showed familiarity with five out of ten commandments.
Multiple choice would also be good.
