May 30, Sivan 21, marked the culmination of a year of learning Torah, when Rambam Mesivta students had the privilege of presenting novella to two great Rabbinical scholars. The students: Benjamin Akhavan, Dov Bitterman, Eitan Blumstein, Eric Grossman, Shlomo Laufer, Yair Lichtman, Michael Rosenfeld, Dovid Simpser and Joseph Yizhaky, are part of the school’s advanced learning shiur, known as “Double Beis Medrash,” where they learn under the tutelage of Rabbi Yosef Ziskind.
The discussions with Rav Naftali Jaegar, Rosh Yeshiva of Sh’or Yoshuv, and Rav Avrohom Schorr, Rav of Khal Tiferes Yaakov focused on issues raised by the Talmud about various theoretical constructs and their applicability to broad spectrum of Jewish Law. The esteemed Rabbis listened to the presentation and interacted with the students, asking questions and eliciting responses. They were extremely impressed by the competence and breadth of knowledge of the students and each Rav praised the boys and offered words of inspiration. Following this fulfilling and meaningful morning, the boys went to the Living Torah Museum with their Rebbe, Rabbi Ziskind, where they continued to build on the bond which is the hallmark of Rambam Mesivta.
