Yesterday, Israeli President Shimon Peres decided to represent Israel’s government in discussions of the peace process with the Palestinians. He did that ahead of a gathering of Middle East leaders in a World Economic Forum meeting on the shores of the Dead Sea on the Jordanian side.

In the picture above, President Peres is being directed into a stasis chamber, where he will spend the remainder of his presidency in suspended animation. It is a special program intended to facilitate the carrying out of Israel’s defense policy by its secretary of defense, its foreign policy by the foreign office, and its general leadership decisions by the elected prime minister. All of the above appear impossible with an abundance of Shimon Peres in the vicinity.
