U.S. Air Force Academy Cadet Sky Jenson, a jump instructor with the 98th Flying Training Squadron, jumps out of a UV-18 Twin Otter aircraft at 4,500 ft, during the AM-490 skydiving course at the United States Air Force Academy.
This is probably the ultimate illustration of the idea of “point of no return.” It’s true that the frozen moment in the picture makes it appear as if the skydiver can change his mind, step back into the plane and go back to his seat, but that just isn’t so. Because by the time the photographer released his camera button, this man was already gone—swoosh— turning quickly into a tiny dot way down there.
Some days I feel as if all my choices are made that way. Very all-or-nothing.
