I know, you guys in the Tri-State Area probably eat pictures like this one for breakfast – a tree that was felled by a storm and destroyed someone’s car. But for us here, in Israel, this is a big deal. It doesn’t take a whole lot to flood us – we’re a very small country.
The thing is, though, no matter who you talk to in Israel about the amazing torrents of rain we’ve been getting, they’ll all tell you, sooner or later – well, at least the Kinneret is getting filled up.
Which is exactly the old Charlie Brown take on the secret of happiness:
The secret of happiness is to own a convertible and a lake. If the sun shines, you can ride around in your convertible. If it rains, you can say, “At least the rain will fill up my lake.”
But what do you say in New York City when it pours so heavily you have to move everything up to the second floor? At least lake Eerie is filling up?
