Former Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger has been remanded to house arrest for another 9 days by a local court Wednesday. He is accused of corruption, for having taken his cut out of millions of shekels in funds that he had raised.

He did it.

The thing is, that’s the way prominent rabbis, like prominent scholars and prominent athletes and prominent former beauty queens have been making a living since we invented fire to facilitate the first banquet.

At some point, the law was changed, and it became illegal for public officials to do that.

A judiciary that was run by human beings would have sent someone to take the chief rabbi aside, tell him quietly that he should stop doing this, and to please give back the money. Trust me, that would have been the end of it.

Instead, the thugs of the judiciary fell down on the chief rabbi like the flying monkeys from Oz, and he will most likely end his illustrious career doing kitchen duty in a white collar prison.

We deserve a less evil judiciary.
