This is a menorah of remembrance which will be lit inside the Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base chapel in Alaska during Holocaust Remembrance Day.
According to the Pentagon website, Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorates the Jews who perished in internment camps under the hand of Nazi Germany.
Internment camps? Really? Makes you think they died from the harsh conditions, like, say, the Japanese Americans interned during the same period, or maybe the Native Americans on the Trail of Tears.
For the record, those Jews “perished” because the folks running the same Air Force wouldn’t bomb the railroad tracks that so industriously shipped thousands of Jews to their “internment” in the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp system.
One well aimed bomb would have saved, or at least prolonged the lives of so many.
I don’t think the U.S. Air Force is entitled to a menorah of remembrance.
