The Qatar-based Al Jazeera English news outlet has been caught with its anti-Semitism on full display — in fact, it was caught all a-Twitter this past Wednesday, you might say — when it tweeted an anti-Semitic meme in response to the news that U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to withdraw America from the Paris Climate Accord.
But someone at the news agency apparently had second thoughts, however, and quickly deleted the tweet – though not quick enough, and not before someone else had already saved a screenshot.
.@AJEnglish appears to have taken down a heinously anti-Semitic tweet about climate change denial.
Cuz deleting means it's gone forever huh pic.twitter.com/bTlxvE7J6d— Eli Meixler (@elimeixler) May 31, 2017
Ultimately, Al Jazeera was forced to apologize for its “mistake” thanks to quick-eyed Twitter user Eli Meixler, and “Happy Merchant” expert Sam Kestenbaum at The Forward, who like the rest of us knows more than any of us ever want to really know about anti-Semitism.
“This is not AJE image but a reply to an old thread that was mistakenly linked,” Al Jazeera English tweeted. “We apologise for the error.”
