Nearly 900 anti-Semitic incidents were reported in the United Kingdom in the first six months of this year, according to the Community Security Trust (CST), the Jewish organization that monitors anti-Semitism and provides security for the Jewish community in the UK.
The organization says that figure – 892 reported incidents between January 1 and June 30 – represents a 10 percent increase over the same period in 2018, which ominously, also had been a record high.
The CST said more than a third of the incidents this year involved social media, but that this figure was likely to be understated since campaigns aimed at individuals could comprise up to thousands of tweets, images or posts and yet be recorded as a single incident.
