Following anti-virus company Kaspersky Lab’s announcement that they uncovered a virus they hinted was made by Israel to spy on Iran, Kaspersky announced their own computer were hacked, in what they described as the job of a “nation-state”, but this time they did not hint as to which nation-state they think it was.
The same virus was used in both cases, and Kaspersky is calling it Duqu 2.0.
Kaspersky says the virus was extremely difficult to detect, but they did manage to uncover it with some new testing software they’ve been working on.
They added that all their customer data is safe.
Kaspersky claims the hackers made a mistake, as now Kaspersky has the virus’s frameworks, which they described as being a generation ahead of anything they’ve ever seen.
Kaspersky says they believe they were attacked, so that the nation-state that sent the virus could learn about Kaspersky’s “newest defensive technologies.”
