An Arab terrorist has been fined and sentenced to prison by the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court after his conviction on charges of attempting to murder IDF soldier on December 27, 2015, near the Jerusalem Central Bus Station.
The 21-year-old soldier who was stabbed in the attack near the Center One shopping mall in the Romema neighborhood was moderately wounded. He was evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center and later listed in stable condition.
The terrorist, 30-year-old Siyad Komboz, was found guilty of attempted murder and weapons possession along with a number of other serious charges. He confessed to the attack, telling his interrogators that he had wanted to kill Jews and “die as a shahid,” the Arabic word for “martyr.”
Komboz was sentenced to 17 years in prison and fined NIS 50,000. However, he will receive a generous monthly stipend for his “work” from the Palestinian Authority via the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) prisoner’s fund. It will equal or exceed the average monthly salary of most Arab citizens living in PA territories, as a reward for his efforts to murder an Israeli Jew. When he is released, the Palestinian Authority will also support his rehabilitation and guarantee him a job.
