(JNi.media) According to Quds news, “23 martyrs” have been killed in Judea, Samaria and Gaza since the beginning of the new Intifada. The Arabic word literally means “shake” or “shaking,” but has been translated into English as “uprising,” “resistance,” and “rebellion.” Israel is yet to officially acknowledge the wave of violence of the past few weeks as a bona fide Intifada.
Over the weekend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked security officials to add massive reinforcements to Israeli Police and Border Police, by mobilizing reserve units. Altogether, the Prime Minister approved the mobilization of 13 Border Police companies, in addition to the three that have already been mobilized. During the discussion it was noted that a reinforced presence is a measure of deterrence that helps in maintain order. The companies will be stationed in Jerusalem and throughout the country.
Prime Minister Netanyahu said in a statement Saturday night: “I have ordered the mobilization of Border Police companies in order to restore security and order in Jerusalem and around the country. We will continue to do all that is necessary.”
The Ministry of Health of the Palestinian Authority government on Sunday morning released the latest statistics, citing the number of “martyrs” in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip since the beginning of October at 23. The agency has added to the list on Sunday morning a mother and daughter killed, while the family’s father and three children were injured after the collapse of their home as a result of a raid by Israeli warplanes in the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, in retaliation for Arab rockets shot into Israeli civilian population areas. Those two deaths bring the number of Arabs killed from Saturday morning until dawn Sunday to 9.
According to the PA inistry, the mother, Noor Hassan, 30, was five months pregnant; her baby was two.
The PA ministry cited a somewhat unrealistic number of injured Arabs since the start of October, placing it at 1100.
It is important to note that every single killing by Israeli security forces was in reaction to a terrorist act, from shooting and stabbing to throwing stones and Molotov cocktail at police and civilians, to rolling burning tires at police and soldiers.
On Friday night, Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke with US Secretary of State John Kerry and made it clear that he expected the Palestinian Authority to stop its wild and deceitful incitement, which is causing the current wave of terrorism. Kerry clarified that the US is aware of the fact that it is Israel’s policy to maintain the status quo and not change it.
