The soldiers attacked Wednesday morning while patrolling Israel’s northern border were riding in regular army jeeps, not armored vehicles, Kikar HaShabbat reports.
The northern border was on high alert due to Hezbollah threats against Israel following the assassination of three top Hezbollah commanders, which the group blamed on Israel. It was not immediately clear why soldiers were not given armored vehicles despite the high alert level.
Hezbollah fired missiles Wednesday at two IDF jeeps and one civilian home, killing two soldiers and wounding seven others.
