Jewish Home leader Naftali Bennett told the party’s Knesset faction, “The arrest of Baruch Mizrahi’s killer, a man who was released in the Gilad Shalit deal, proves that the idea of releasing terrorists has reached its end. For 30 years we have been guided by this concept; today the concept collapsed.
“Every prisoner release signs the fate of more Israelis, Israelis who don’t have families who will fight for their right to live, for the simple reason that these (future victims) do not yet have names and faces. But their fate has been sealed with the releases.
“When speaking about prisoner releases we always hear that ‘maybe it will lead to peace,’ maybe they’ve learned their lessons.’ After all, they signed documents upon release that they wouldn’t go back to terror activity. But my friends, listen: We’re in the Middle East. Killers remain killers. And they must remain behind bars.
“Hamas is not the only party responsible for this murder,” Bennett added. “Those who celebrated the murders’ release, who name public squares after them and who fund the Palestinian Authority also finance thousands of killers who sit today in Israeli jails, and their families – the Palestinian Authority also bears responsibility for the murder.
“After 30 years of lopsided prisioner deals, we say clearly: We will not release any more prisoners,” Bennett said.
