Bayit Yehudi party chairman and Education Minister Naftali Bennett said Saturday night that Palestinian Authority Arab terrorists have reached a new “low” in their attacks on Israeli soldiers.
“Palestinian [terrorists] have reached a new moral bankruptcy with their new heroes: terrorist who seek water from soldiers and then pay them back by attempting to stab them to death,” Bennett said.
The statement came in response to a day in which there were two separate attacks on Israeli police and soldiers. One attack came after a Palestinian Arab asked for water — when the soldier turned to get him a drink, the terrorist pulled out a knife and stabbed the soldier in the back.
The second attack took place during a routine security check at a junction near the Huwara checkpoint. In both cases, the terrorists were shot by other security personnel immediately following the stabbing. In the second instance, the terrorist subsequently died of his wounds.
“I would like to commend the activities of the soldiers and to say clearly: it is essential to give the soldiers authority to operate and strike at terrorists, and to back them up when they do,” Bennett added.
