The bomb shelters were opened in the northern Israeli community of Kiryat Shmona late Sunday afternoon, following the outbreak of hostilities along the northern border with Lebanon.

The move came in the wake of an anti-tank missile attack from across the northern border, aimed at an IDF base in the area of Avivim (The Springs) and towards several IDF vehicles nearby.
