A Palestinian Authority female terrorist seriously wounded a female Israel soldier in a knife attack near Rachel’s Tomb south of Jerusalem Monday morning.
The terrorist was captured by other Border Police officers at the scene, and they discovered the attacker was carrying two additional knives.
She pulled out a knife and stabbed the soldier in the neck at a crossing south of Jerusalem at the “Rachel Checkpoint” on the road to Bethlehem.
Inspections at the checkpoint are carried out on male and female Arabs by soldiers of the same sex.
The soldier, described to be around 20 years old, was treated by Maged Adom David medics before being evacuated to a Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.
The hospital’s director said Monday afternoon that the victim’s condition is not life-threatening and that an operation succeeded in stabilizing her. She is expected to make a full recovery.
