Update: What was first thought to be a suicide bomb with a bomb belt has turned out to be an allegedly mentally ill person carrying bags of black sunflower seeds on his person.
The man was stopped late Sunday morning, after the IDF initially thought the man was a suicide bomber.
After the bomb squad examined the contents of what he was carrying, and interrogated the suspect, they determined that he was not a suicide bomber.
He’s been freed to go on his way.
Traffic at the checkpoint has been reopened.
Until the IDF cleaned it out, Jenin was a hotbed of suicide bombers.
