A 57-year-old resident of the Wadi Joz neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem has been charged with causing the death of Border Guard policewoman Hadar Cohen, hy’d, on February 3.
Hamees Salaimeh, a cab driver, was charged with causing Cohen’s death through negligence by transporting the three terrorists to the scene of the shooting and stabbing attack at the Damascus Gate entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem.
The homes of Ahmad Naj’ah Ismail Netzar, Muhmad Ahmad Muhmad Kamil and Ammad Naj’ah Abd Aliltif Abu Alrov, all three located in the Samaria Arab village of Qabatiya, were subsequently demolished.
The indictment filed at the Jerusalem District Court reveals Salaimeh was charged because he drove the three into the city even though they had no permits to be in Israel. All three were residents of Jenin, in Samaria.
According to the court documents, Salaimeh picked up the trio at the security barrier at A-Ram, north of Jerusalem. He then drove them to the Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiyeh, inside the city limits.
A second Border Guard policewoman was badly wounded, but survived the attack and insisted on leaving her hospital bed long enough to attend her friend’s funeral the next day.
