A four-year-old boy drowned Thursday afternoon after he was swept away in a flash flood that struck Nahal Arad near the Bedouin town of Kuseifa, located along Highway 31 in the northeastern Negev.

Paramedics from the Magen David Adom emergency medical service worked to resuscitate the child after he was pulled from the water, and rushed him to Soroka Medical Center in nearby Be’er Sheva. He arrived without a pulse, and doctors were forced to declare the child’s death shortly after.
