A rocket fired at southern Israel by Gaza terrorists landed in an open area outside a Jewish community in the Sha’ar HaNegev regional council district, Israeli military officials said Wednesday night.

A second rocket fired from the enclave failed to clear the border and landed instead within Gaza territory.

The Red Alert incoming rocket siren was activated a few minutes before 9:00 pm Wednesday night in the Gaza Belt region, sending families racing for their safe rooms and bomb shelters in the Sha’ar HaNegev and Eshkol regional council districts.

No injuries or property damage was reported in either location, although the necessity of suddenly being forced to race for shelter within a 15-second window of time made it difficult on families with very young children and babies — not for the first time and sadly, probably not for the last.
