“Israel is honored to welcome the President of the Czech Republic, H.E. Milos Zeman, starting his official visit in Israel this evening,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Emmanuel Nachson told media Sunday.
Zeman plans to inaugurate a cultural center as the first step in his plan to move the Czech Republic embassy to Jerusalem.
On Tuesday, Zeman will be joined by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the opening of “Czech House,” the cultural center where the country will hold its cultural, economic, tourism and scientific activities in Israel.
Zeman is also slated to meet with his Israeli counterpart, President Reuven Rivlin, and to address Israel’s Knesset, before returning to the Czech Republic Wednesday.
