Philanthropist David Wichs, 38, passed away suddenly in New York City on Friday in a bizarre accident when a construction crane collapsed Friday on his parked car as he stood beside it.

Wichs, whose family immigrated to the U.S. from Prague more than 20 years ago, was crushed to death in the accident.
